Frontier is series of short films, each consisting of a single scene 2-3 minutes long, constructed on the spine of a single narrative screenplay. Each film seeks a counterpoint between a character and an architectural setting. The locations seen in the films will reference those seen in specific works held in the collection of the Whitney Museum.

The first series of films posted here is Studies for “Marley,” comprised of scenes featuring a single character from Frontier. They were created with Angie Smalis, in residence at Daghdha Dance Company, Limerick, Ireland, in December 2009. They are silent.
